This is the fourth week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on ACCEPTANCE.
Acceptance is the only place that change can really begin. But humans have been conditioned to skip right over the step of accepting and either move to denial OR they go directly into trying to “fix.” But acceptance is imperative in leading a joyful life because you release control and expected outcomes. You accept what IS before you focus on what you can (and can’t) change. You can learn the true meaning of unconditional love and see immediate results in how this benefits you AND those around you. Tune in this week to find out how!

This is the third week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on HUMOR.
We are conditioned from a young age to take everything very seriously. Most of us lose our sense of humor and our sense of play as we get older. We don’t laugh as much, and we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. But what if we didn’t do that? What if we could find a way to smile more and be more light-hearted? Could we be more joyful? Tune in this week to find out!

This is the second week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on HUMILITY.
The word humility actually comes from the Latin word for earth or soil, humus (not to be confused with hummus). Humility will bring us back down to earth. Learning to be uninterested in status and superiority is one of the keys to leading a joyful life. We are each just one human on the planet. We are all one.

This is the first week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams. In 2015, good friends, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, met in India over the course of a week to discuss the nature of joy, and obstacles to reaching it. Douglas Abrams was there to document it all. Together, they offered eight Pillars of Joy, which provide the foundation for lasting happiness. In this series, we’ll break down each pillar in detail so that you will have the tools you need to find pure joy.
This week’s pillar focuses on PERSPECTIVE.

Five key takeaways from this episode:
- When facing resistance, learning to trust your gut and have faith is what will fuel you to keep moving forward. It won’t necessarily make it easier, but it will help to keep your ego and thoughts of fear at bay so they don’t stop you in your tracks.
- When it comes to doing what you love and what you feel called to do, there is no recipe for success. Allow your intuition to take the lead. It may take a lot of mindset work and healing work, but it is so worth it.
- When you learn to be present, that’ when you’re able to see the magic of life so much more clearly. Meditation can be a great tool to help you get in the present moment. This helps to train your brain to come back to center when it veers off course.
- Gratitude is a magic unlocking. When you give it, you also receive it at the same time. In your heart, truly feel the gratitude. When it comes from that energy space, that where the power lies.
- Our lives don’t have to be made up of either/or choices. They can be a beautiful blend of everything we know to be true. We aren’t meant to live our lives in a defined way. When the walls fall down from the box you’ve been living in, things start to make so much more sense.

Five key takeaways from this episode:
- If you have trauma and want to try tapping as a way to release that trauma, make sure you are working with an EFT professional, at least for the first time. Because you’re already stuck in that place, the safest way for you to try this technique is with someone who is trained in how to do tapping properly and understands how this may affect people.
- Emotional Freedom Technique is based on the energy in our bodies. Experiences that we have can get trapped in our energetic body if we don’t know how to release them. When we heal the energetic component within our mind, magical things can happen.
- Studies have shown that tapping can reduce cortisol levels of up to 43%. Cortisol is the primary stress hormone in your body, and controls the fight or flight response. Tapping and breathing for just 5 minutes every morning an give you more clarity in your life.
- Tapping allows you to accept however you are feeling. You can rate how intense that is for you before you start tapping. This will help you see how effective this technique is for you once you have gone through the whole process. Check in with yourself and see if that energy is moving and shifting for you.
- There are 9 basic meridian points that are used in EFT. The first one is the side of the hand, which some people also call the karate chop point. The next one is called the eyebrow point, which is the part of your eyebrow closest to your nose. The next point is the outside of your eye, on the bone, not the temple. The next one is under the eye, along the same bone as the last two points, just above the fleshy part of your cheek. The fourth point is under your nose, above your upper lip. The next one is under your lower lip, where there is a crease between the lip and the chin. The next one is the collarbone point. It’s slightly to the right or left of the center of your body. The next point is underneath the arm. This is about 3-4” below the armpit. The last point is right on the top of your head.
