30. Parenting with Joy with Leslie Potter
Tuesday Sep 13, 2022
Tuesday Sep 13, 2022
Leslie Potter is a coach, psychotherapist, and spiritual inquirer that became a mom for the first time when she was 44 years old when she adopted her daughter from China. She encourages people to become who they always wanted to be as a parent through her PureJoy Parent Coach training, and she shares some insight on just how to do that in this episode.
Whether you are a parent, grandparent, stepparent, WANT TO BE parent, aunt, uncle, etc, you will be inspired by today’s episode while Leslie offers plenty of tools to support you in uncovering your intuition to parent the way you desire instead of listening to the way others tell you to do it.
Five key takeaways from this episode:
- Make space to listen to both your head and your heart. There is room for both, and it isn’t about negating either one. When you listen to both, they can start to have a conversation. That said, typically your heart will be the first speak because that’s where desire lives.
- When it comes to THEIR desires, your kids are looking for support, not for permission. By giving or WITHHOLDING permission for them to do something, you are making the decision about whether YOU are or are NOT ready for it. Invite them to tell you more so that you can reflect their desires back to them.
- You aren’t broken, so there is nothing to fix. However, you can start to become aware of the impact your childhood has on how you parent your own children. Take a look at what you are running from within your own childhood so that you can resolve it. If you can, look at the benefits of situations from when you were younger so that you can reframe what that experience means to you.
- Have a healthy separation with your children. Know the difference between YOUR childhood and THEIR childhood and try not to make their childhood mean something about YOU. If there is something you didn’t have when you were a kid, you get to give yourself what you need now. Giving that thing to your child doesn’t replace your own needs. Don’t try to parent yourself THROUGH your child.
- Having boundaries with your children isn’t about control – it’s about determining what is ok with you and what is NOT ok with you about how you treat YOURSELF. You will never have to say “not” to your child if you can offer SOMETHING. Find what you ARE ok with through conversation with them, and you won’t put yourself in the position to have to say “no” because you will be offering what you are ok with.

29. Soul Coaching with Gina Stock
Tuesday Sep 06, 2022
Tuesday Sep 06, 2022
If you’ve ever wanted to be a fly on the wall when I’m talking with one of my dharma sisters, here is your chance. We really dive into what it means to find your purpose, what that looks like, and how the expression of it can shift over time. This one is SO good for the soul. You don’t want to miss it!
Five key takeaways from this episode:
- Miracles are all around us, both big and small, whether it’s getting the house you wished for, a miraculous healing of a loved one, or simply being grateful to wake up each day. If you are open to seeing them, the more miracles will occur.
- You have the power to reframe any situation to look at it from a different perspective to see how something is working FOR you instead of TO you. You can choose to become better and stronger because of things you have gone through instead of being a victim.
- Keep following the breadcrumbs and take what feels like the next right step without having an expectation of what is going to happen. You never know where the journey will take you, and it could be better than you imagined.
- Continue to meet new people, and then put effort into those relationships to nurture them into something beautiful. We all need people to share our wins with and to hold space for us when we need support. Keep showing up for each other and you will not only give, but also receive.
- Have compassion for yourself and try to see yourself the way God sees you. We all have gorgeous spirits inside of us, and we just need to learn how to access them by getting rid of self-criticism and have compassion for yourself. When you do that, you have compassion for others.

Tuesday Aug 30, 2022
This is the final week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on GENEROSITY.
Giving to others without expectation can be one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself because when you give, you also receive. Whether you give through money, material items, time, or energy, your kindness makes space for more to be given to you. Generosity is directly linked to having a sense of purpose, which makes us healthier and happier. With each act of generosity, you are positively impacting others, which helps to raise the vibration of the planet. Tune in to this week’s episode to learn more!

27. Joy Pillar 7 – Compassion
Tuesday Aug 23, 2022
Tuesday Aug 23, 2022
This is the seventh week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on COMPASSION.
The Dalai Lama says that this pillar is the key to happiness. He says if you don’t show compassion for others and stop worrying about your own suffering, that you will never truly find joy. It sounds easy in theory, and for many, it is. Compassion is our natural state, after all. However, through our life experiences, many people have learned a different way of life, where love and compassion isn’t what drives us. The good news is that compassion can be learned, and it’s 100% contagious!

26. Joy Pillar 6 – Gratitude
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
This is the sixth week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on GRATITUDE.
Giving thanks should be happening more than just that one day a year in November. How often do you stop to think about how grateful you are that you woke up this morning? Do you savor the moments of your life, or do you spend most of your waking hours wishing for something different? If you’ve struggled with making time to show gratitude, tune in to this week’s episode to find out how you can change your life in just 5 minutes a day!

25. Joy Pillar 5 - Forgiveness
Tuesday Aug 09, 2022
Tuesday Aug 09, 2022
This is the fifth week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on FORGIVENESS.
So often, we think that forgiveness means forgetting or that forgiveness means that what someone did is acceptable. But what if forgiveness meant freedom? What if it meant compassion? What if it meant empowering yourself with your own happiness? Tune in this week to find out more!

24. Joy Pillar 4 - Acceptance
Tuesday Aug 02, 2022
Tuesday Aug 02, 2022
This is the fourth week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on ACCEPTANCE.
Acceptance is the only place that change can really begin. But humans have been conditioned to skip right over the step of accepting and either move to denial OR they go directly into trying to “fix.” But acceptance is imperative in leading a joyful life because you release control and expected outcomes. You accept what IS before you focus on what you can (and can’t) change. You can learn the true meaning of unconditional love and see immediate results in how this benefits you AND those around you. Tune in this week to find out how!

23. Joy Pillar 3 - Humor
Tuesday Jul 26, 2022
Tuesday Jul 26, 2022
This is the third week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on HUMOR.
We are conditioned from a young age to take everything very seriously. Most of us lose our sense of humor and our sense of play as we get older. We don’t laugh as much, and we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. But what if we didn’t do that? What if we could find a way to smile more and be more light-hearted? Could we be more joyful? Tune in this week to find out!

22. Joy Pillar 2 – Humility
Tuesday Jul 19, 2022
Tuesday Jul 19, 2022
This is the second week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams.
This week’s pillar focuses on HUMILITY.
The word humility actually comes from the Latin word for earth or soil, humus (not to be confused with hummus). Humility will bring us back down to earth. Learning to be uninterested in status and superiority is one of the keys to leading a joyful life. We are each just one human on the planet. We are all one.

21. Joy Pillar 1 - Perspective
Tuesday Jul 12, 2022
Tuesday Jul 12, 2022
This is the first week of a special eight-week series based on the teachings in The Book of Joy, authored by Douglas Abrams. In 2015, good friends, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, met in India over the course of a week to discuss the nature of joy, and obstacles to reaching it. Douglas Abrams was there to document it all. Together, they offered eight Pillars of Joy, which provide the foundation for lasting happiness. In this series, we’ll break down each pillar in detail so that you will have the tools you need to find pure joy.
This week’s pillar focuses on PERSPECTIVE.
